Abstract

In order to improve the capital utilization efficiency and repayment rate of online lending, an empirical study on marital discrimination in China's P2P online lending market was conducted in this paper by choosing a logit model with the valid orders of "renrendai" from Jan.1st, 2015 to Dec.31st, 2016 as the sample. The results show that the successful borrowing and repayment rates of married borrowers are higher, those of divorced borrowers are not significantly different from those of other marital status borrowers, and there is rational discrimination against single borrowers in the market. Heterogeneity study results show that marital status discrimination affects borrowers of different genders, ages and education levels differently.
